When They Reveal Themselves
Rising euthanasia numbers are being celebrated, not mourned — and it reveals exactly where the "dignity" argument was always headed.
At least when the abortion lobby made its push to legalise the slaughter of children in the womb, they had they self-awareness to admit its tragedy. Their mantra used to be: safe, legal and rare. Today it’s: shout your abortion. So even they eventually revealed themselves for what they are: held bent on the destruction of life.
But Dying With Dignity didn’t even bother with the pretence. They just came out and said what they believe: euthanasia numbers are up and that is a good thing. In their autumn newsletter, the organisation highlights the fact that demand for euthanasia continues to grow across Australia without the slightest regard for the human tragedy that lies just below the statistics.
Even if you are an advocate for euthanasia, you would think common decency would oblige you to admit that people ending their lives prematurely is no happy thing. Families and individuals in these situations are not in a good place- regardless of the decisions they make. And although we completely disagree with the option, we feel empathy with people in these circumstances. Not so for Dying With Dignity. They wish to celebrate what is an undeniable tragedy.
When you value human life so little as to think the best way to serve someone is to end them, you clearly have lost your moral compass. Dying with Dignity unwittingly admits that outright. The disregard for the tragedy behind every real situation is glossed over in the name of a rampant and reckless expansion of a right to assisted suicide.
It is clear to us at Right to Life that the euthanasia lobby is coming for safeguards and is coming for conscientious objection. Dementia or Alzheimer’s will be no longer be reasons to object. Your own beliefs certainly won’t be either. This is a lobby that fails to recognise the tragedy and thus will not be satisfied until euthanasia is not just the most extreme answer to heartbreak - it will be the automatic solution. No compromises. No safeguards. No conscientious objection.
The battle to overturn the tragedy of legalised assisted suicide has only just begun.
